For years, we’ve visited a local Gold Coast restaurant which serves, among other things, a kilo of Pork Ribs as one of its menu items. My husband has ordered those Ribs every single time and raved how they were “finger lickin’ good” as he gnawed every ounce of meat from the bones. I’d never cooked Ribs before but decided to give it a go a few months ago. Boy, am I glad I did, as these now feature regularly on my Meal Plans and are so easy to make it’s ridiculous. Only 5 ingredients make up the delicious sauce and the slow cooker does all the work … now that’s my kind of recipe! Hubby has even declared they’re as good as what we used to order at the Restaurant … but I’ll let you be the judge of that!
I’ve been buying my Pork Ribs from Aldi and they’ve been beautiful and really good value. Enjoy!
- 2 cups barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- cornflour (to thicken the sauce)
- 2 x kg pork ribs
- Combine barbecue sauce, brown sugar, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and paprika in a jug.
- Lightly spray the inside of the slow cooker dish with cooking spray, place ribs inside, basting well with the prepared sauce. Slow cook on low for 8 – 9 hours.
- Remove ribs carefully from slow cooker and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Baste ribs generously with some of the remaining sauce from the slow cooker and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for approximately 10 minutes or until the ribs begin to char slightly and become crisp around the edges.
- Turn the slow cooker to high. Mix some cornflour (I use about 3 tablespoons) with a little water and add to the leftover sauce, stirring to thicken. Remove ribs from the oven, slice or place whole on a bed of rice and serve with the remaining sauce.
