As summer becomes a distant memory, the nights are definitely getting cooler. I love this weather because the days are still pleasant and the nights are now perfect for slow cooked comfort food like this Chicken Tikka Masala. This is a gorgeous, rustic recipe that’s both easy and delicious. Enjoy!
Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala …

Ingredients …
- 900g chicken thigh fillets (without the skin)
- 3 small brown onions, peeled and sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 x 800g can diced (or crushed) tomatoes
- ½ cup Tikka Masala Curry Paste (I use Pataks)
- 2 cups sweet potato, chopped into large chunks
- ⅓ cup cream
- ½ cup fresh coriander, roughly chopped
Method …
- Trim chicken thigh fillets of excess fat and sinew and chop into very large pieces.
- Add chicken, brown onions, garlic, tinned tomatoes and tikka masala curry paste to a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
- Just before serving, steam the sweet potato and add to the slow cooker. Stir through the cream.
- Serve with rice and sprinkle with fresh coriander.
