Trump International Hotel, Las Vegas, USA …

Trump International Hotel, Las Vegas 001

For those of you that are new to the blog, in October, hubby and I travelled to Las Vegas to attend a friend’s wedding. We stayed at three hotels while in Vegas and you can read about our first night at The Luxor here, followed by 4 nights at The Cosmopolitan here. On our final night in Vegas, we weren’t able to extend our stay at The Cosmopolitan, so we checked into the Trump International Hotel and boy, were we impressed.

Trump International is a 64-storey hotel with just over 1200 rooms. It’s located about 200 metres off the Strip, and although that may deter you from staying there if you were hoping to be right in the middle of all the action, don’t let it! It’s still close enough but without the hefty price tag of hotels that are located on the Strip itself.

Trump is especially perfect for families or anyone who wants a slower, quieter pace because it lacks the one thing that most Vegas hotels are obviously famous for … a Casino. That may seem odd for Vegas but after you’ve been surrounded by the noise of Casinos and the hustle and bustle of the street for several days it really was a welcome reprieve. You can feel the difference the second you step into the stunning reception area. The other thing that we truly welcomed was the fact that it’s a non-smoking hotel … bliss!

So a little bit about our stay … I can’t comment on the public areas all that much because we didn’t take full advantage of those … this was just a quick overnight stay. There is a pool deck complete with cabanas, day beds, cafe and a bar. The Trump Spa is available to anyone who wants to be pampered including a salon and fitness centre. On the lobby-level there is DJT Restaurant and Bar or 24-hour room service if you’d like to stay in. And, of course, let’s not forget your pets. Trump is a pet-friendly hotel that will provide gourmet treats and a bed for your four-legged friend. The concierge can even arrange dog-walking.

As for our room, we stayed in a Superior Room, which was huge and luxurious. There was a large, stunning bathroom on the left when you entered which even featured a TV screen built into the mirror … wow … I could watch my favourite show while putting on my makeup … see the photo above!

The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on and the room also featured a desk, a small living area, an entire wall of cupboards (including a small kitchenette) and floor to ceiling windows giving us a glorious view of The Strip, which is truly magical at night time.

As much as we enjoyed staying in the middle of the Strip for the bulk of our time in Vegas, if I’m honest, I would probably choose a hotel like Trump if I returned. It was so great to have such easy access to the madness of Vegas but it was equally nice to retreat from the crowds, the smoke, the Casinos and the craziness. And for anyone who wants to do some serious shopping, the Fashion Show Mall, with approximately 250 shops is just across the road.

So if you happen to be investigating a trip to Vegas and the prices for some of the hotels on the Strip are out of your budget, do consider staying just off the Strip because you’ll get access to some stunning hotels. We truly loved this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

So tell me, is a trip to Las Vegas on your Bucket List? If not, where would you most like to travel?
